| Elizabethan composer, William Byrd (1543 - 1623), lived for the last thirty years of his life at Stondon Massey. He is thought to have been buried in the churchyard. This memorial was placed in the church to commemorate the tercentenary of his death in 1923. | One of the features in the church is a Jacobean pulpit and reading desk dated 1630. On the panels of the desk are the words "Christ is All in All" while the pulpit is carved "2 Tim. iv 1-2", the reference to "preach the word in season and out of season". | |||||
