FunLove is a dangerous, file destroying virus. Unlike more
recent viruses like Klez and Nimda, FunLove does not email out sensitive
information from the infected PC. It does however search for and
infect as many EXE (executable files), SCR (screen saver) and OCX (ActiveX
controls) files as possible, thereby disabling many programs, especially
antivirus and firewalls.
When run for the first time,
FunLove creates a file called FLCSS.EXE in the Windows System folder
(\Windows\System or \WinNT\System32). The FLCSS.EXE file searches for and
infects all EXE, SCR and OCX files found in drives C: through Z:. If an
error occurs upon running FLCSS.EXE, the virus infection routine is
launched. Funlove can use any of the techniques normally used by viruses to spread: floppy disks, CD-ROMs, computer networks, Internet, sending-receiving e-mail messages with infected files either enclosed within, or attached to them. The virus also modifies the MS-DOS stub of infected programs. It then displays the text "~Fun Loving Criminals~," after which it restarts the system. The FunLove virus is also known as: w32/FunLove, W32.FunLove, w32.funlove.4099, Fun Love Virus & W32/FunLove.gen
