The Pencoed Contact Group is an organisation that encourages house bound people of the area to meet on a weekly basis. It's members suffer from many different disablities. They meet to discuss common problems and enjoy a little social life. For many members this is the only occasion that they leave their homes. The aims of the group are to improve the quality of life for its members, to encourage and preserve its members' independence and dignity.

The Group meets every Wednesday at the Royal British Legion Club on Hendre Road. Most members are collected by a specially adapted vehicle with a rear lift to handle wheelchairs. This vehicle, together with a driver and escort, is provided by the Social Services Department of the Bridgend County Borough Council. Those members who can not be collected by this vehicle travel to the meeting by car or taxi.

At the meeting refreshments are provided by a group of volunteers, who also take orders for lunches, which are collected from a local fish-shop. After lunch, the group discuss current affairs connected with running the group and members are encouraged to discuss matters that are of concern and are common to them.

Later in the meeting, fund-raising activities are organised, as the group is entirely self-funding. The group has a strong savings section. A game of Bingo is then usually organised.
An annual social programme is arranged to conform to members' wishes. An annual day outing is also arranged and members enjoy a Christmas Dinner and Party and a visit to a pantomime.
