The Millennium Project An interesting project taken up by the Pencoed Town Council to re-introduce woodland on the steep side of Cefn Hirgoed where trees have not grown in living memory. It is interesting to note that Cefn Hirgoed actually means (the ridge of the long trees). This hillside, along with many others in the area, was thought to have been de-forested early in the Industrial Revolution to feed the nearby iron furnaces.
