Betsy Whyte
I first met Betsy during fieldwork in 1973. She was most gifted representative of Scotland's traveling people - singer, storyteller and writer of distinction - that I had the good fortune to work with.
Her singing of her family ballad Young Johnston is featured on Scottish Tradition 5: The Muckle Sangs - Classic Scots Ballads.
For information on her two fascinating and beautifully written autobiographies - The Yellow on the Broom and Red Rowans and Wild Honey - please visit Birlinn Books
