Great Gransden Pre-School Playgroup

Introduction

Welcome to Great Gransden Pre-School Playgroup.

We have been running now for 24 years, previously being based in an old mobile within the grounds of our local primary school, we now have a fantastic purpose-built building to work from, thanks to a successful lottery bid.

The Pre-School has a team of staff who have worked together for many years to create a happy and relaxed atmosphere for the children to play and learn in, offering a wide range of resources with the aim to foster independence and help the children develop as individuals. We have a lovely nature garden where we plant our own vegetables and flowers. Our playground has recently been re-marked to include an alphabet crocodile and hopscotch.

Our Pre-school operates term time only offering morning sessions for children from 2˝ years of age, a lunchclub which is available to all children and our afternoon sessions which are for Pre-School children only (those in their year before school). This means Pre-schoolers are able to stay all day if they wish.

Our admissions are by date of birth with children coming from a wide area. We have a regular routine with up to 36 children attending our morning sessions and up to 18-24 for our afternoon sessions.

On our last Ofsted inspection we were awarded the outcome: ‘good’ in both education and care. (The full report can be accessed via our links section).

We accept nursery grants and various childcare vouchers (please contact our administrator for more details or advice)

We encourage parental involvement in various shapes and forms from joining the

committee, to helping at sessions or at fundraising events, maybe offering your expertise or just washing the tea towels. We appreciate that not everyone can come into the setting but you can be involved in your children’s playschool in some way.

Aims and Objectives

Great Gransden Pre-school playgroup aims to provide a healthy, caring and stimulating environment in which children can learn through play. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all.

We encourage children to develop their independence and self-esteem, supported by sensitive and motivated staff. We also aim to foster positive relationships with Parents/ Carers and the wider community.

We aim to provide a safe environment with a wide variety of quality resources where children can build on their own experiences and enjoy discovering and achieving new ones, both in groups and as individuals.
