Bruce, Robert and Peter travelled to Dumfries for the Crichton duathlon on 31st March. This race involved a four mile run, a fourteen mile cycle and a two mile run. It was the first time any of us had taken on an event with more than one discipline, and as such, more a learning experience than anything else; at least, that was what we thought until the start!

The start of the Crichton duathlon in Dumfries on March 31st 2002.
Robert was the fastest Galloway Tri overall, in 7th position, with the 2nd best time for the first, 4 mile run on the day.
Peter bravely brought up the rear of our intrepid trio, to take 15th place overall
Bruce produced a superb bike leg to put him into 11th position. The picture shows he can actually use his legs for something other than powering his bike!
All in all we had a superb afternoon. The event was low key and relaxed, but gave us all a good chance to see how we would cope with a multi sport race. It certainly hasn't put us off and hopefully we'll be back for the next edition of this race in September with a few more club members
