Various club members were involved in the Kirroughtree trail races which were held just outside Newton Stewart on Sunday 14th April, and the club made a good showing in several categories. Robert had a superb run to take 4th place in the senior mens event in a time of 40 minutes and 41 seconds over a tough 11.5 kilometre course. Phil was the first over 50 and Lawrie ran a PB for the course in exactly 50 minutes. Phil and Lawrie, in a fit of misplaced loyalty declared themselves as Galloway Harriers for this race, but we know their hearts are in the right place really!
Jane improved on the time for her race by over 5 minutes from last year, but just missed out on gaining the over 45s title she had set her heart on. She was awarded, however, the trophy for the first local lady, coming fourth (and beating Dumfries triathlon clubs fastest lady). John did well in the under thirteens, winning his race by nearly a minute (he's now won his race at this event for the last three years), and Matthew took second place in a field of 13 for the under 11s. It must have been easier than last year when he ran with his arm in a plaster cast.
Well done to all taking part. It helps to keep the club in the local paper, and might even inspire some new members to join.
