This section of my site is dedicated to my home tower, Aldridge.
Aldridge has a wonderful ring of 8 bells, the tenor weighing 9-0-6 in the key of
A. The back 6 were cast in 1935 by John Taylors of Loughborough, and the two
trebled were cast and installed during 1977.
They form a very traditional sounding Taylors octave.
Prior to the current ring of 6, plus two trebles, there was a Rudhall ring of 5,
which we believe were rung from the ground floor. The bells remained a ground
floor ring until the 1970's when the local band installed a ringing floor about
15ft above the ground floor. However, when this work was undertaken, evidence of
a previous floor was found, suggesting there used to be a ringing floor.
