Historical Events & Dates

• 1848: Ring of six Mears bells cast.
• 1911: First peal on the old bells.
• 1973: Last peal on the old bells
• C1975: Ringing stopped due to concerns over the stability of the tower
• 1991: The old ring of six were removed. One bell going to Wales, no.3 went to Pen y Fai and the others were traded in at Whitechapel against the order for the bells for Marietta, Geogia. (Ex. Info David Marshall)
• 1992: The new “major thirds” six installed by the Merseyside Bell Restoration Group. The tenor being an ex- demonstration bell.
• 1996: First peal on the new bells
