The Floods of 1999 & 1979

If you wonder why Church Road, Moorclose Road and Main Road have been either
closed or subject to temporary traffic lights for most of 2006 and probably well into
2007, this is the reason. The sewers no longer had the capacity to cope with the
amount of water coming down from High Harrington and had to be replaced.



This was what happened at Beckstone bridge on the 5th of November 1999.


Twenty years previously, almost to the day, on the 11th November 1979 the same story -
only the cars are different!
