Farrah Fawcett in Charlie's Angels Farrah Fawcett
Born in Texas, Farrah Fawcett was a glamorous TV actress in the late 1960s and early 1970s, achieving her greatest success as Jill Monroe, one of three private eyes in Charlie's Angels (1976). Her famous red swimsuit poster sold eight million copies. She was married to Lee Majors during the 1970s, when her screen credits were as Farrah Fawcett-Majors. She played the traitorous Holly in Logan's Run (1976), and naïve Alex for sci-fi thriller Saturn 3 (1980), in which a homicidal robot attacked her. As Pamela 'Beauty' Glover in The Cannonball Run, she was reluctant participant in an illegal road race across USA.
In a bid to shed her glamour image and gain recognition as a serious actress, Fawcett played battered wife Francine Hughes in The Burning Bed (1984), and vengeful assault victim Marjorie in Extremities (1986), reprising her role in an off-Broadway play. Grudgingly, the critics applauded, so more TV movies and some big screen films followed, but few of them were as good.
Donald Morefield
SPACE Sherilyn Fenn
As ex-Federal agent Lauren Jacobs, Sherilyn Fenn (who played sexpot Audrey in David Lynch's TV serial Twin Peaks), investigates the high-level conspiracy which injured her, and killed a presidential candidate, in John Harrison's spy thriller The Assassination File (1996). She soon finds out that she can't trust anyone, and is forced to shoot a bogus cop.
Carrie Fisher as Leia in Star Wars Carrie Fisher
She says:
"I always wanted to do what my mother [Debbie Reynolds] did -
get all dressed up, shoot people, fall in the mud."
As fiesty Princess Leia in Star Wars, Carrie Fisher became a superstar almost overnight. Appearing in two sequels: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return Of The Jedi (1983), ensured her place in space opera history was secure.
Between these sci-fi adventures Fisher played a mystery brunette on a mission to kill John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd in The Blues Brothers (1980). When her automatic rifle fails to put paid to the boys' musical quest, she blows up their apartment with a missile.
Bridget Fonda as Maggie Bridget Fonda
She played lowlife criminal turned assassin, Maggie, in John Badham's The Assassin (aka: Point Of No Return, aka: Codename: Nina 1993), the US remake of Luc Besson's Nikita (1990).
Maggie's unanticipated initiation into the asassination business occurs in a posh restaurant. She's given a gift-wrapped automatic pistol and told to kill one of the diners... Her escape from danger through the kitchens offers some excellent action choreography.
Ian Shutter
Jane Fonda as Barbarella Jane Fonda
Played fiesty space babe of the title in Roger Vadim's sexy space adventure, Barbarella (1968).
Deborah Foreman in Sundown Deborah Foreman
Californian actress who launched her screen career as TV guest star in shows like T.J. Hooker, and TV movies such kidnap thriller In The Custody Of Strangers (1982), before playing Julie Richman in teen flick Valley Girl (1983). She played Susan Decker in Real Genius (1985), Buffy in the slasher mystery April Fool's Day (1986), victimised Sarah Brightman in cult horror Waxwork (1988), before her major action girl role as Sandy White, the blonde with an automatic rifle during the shootout, in spoof horror Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat (1988). Since then, she has appeared as Mary in lame sci-fi comedy Lobster Man From Mars (1989), and as Jill in romantic spy adventure The Experts (1989).
SPACE Jodie Foster
Played novice FBI agent Clarice Starling in The Silence Of The Lambs (1991), a sequel to Manhunter (1986), though the main link between these films is the recurring character of Dr Hannibal 'the Cannibal' Lecter.
