     William Mair was born on 25 July 1872 at Parish of Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of William Mair and Ann Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin".
He was listed as head of household's son in the 1881 census at 158 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.
