     David Wood was born circa 1849 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of George Wood and Margaret Mair. His family was known by the tee-name of "King". David Wood was a fisherman. He was the skipper of the Zulu fishing boat 'Evangeline' BF 1952. He married Christina Bruce at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 30 April 1875.3,4,5,2 He married Margaret Mair at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 26 October 1877.5 He was the informant for Catharine Wood's birth at 72 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 6 April 1890.6,2 He was the informant for Catharine Wood's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 11 July 1890.7,2 He was the informant for Margaret Mair's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 14 May 1891.8,5 He married Jane Mair at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 21 September 1891.5 He was the informant for George Wood's birth at 5 North Street, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 30 July 1895.9,10,2 David died on 17 January 1905 at Stronsay, Orkney, Scotland. He perished with the Portknockie Zulu fishing boat 'Evangeline' BF 1952 that was wrecked off Stronsay during a great storm. The entire crew were lost. They were David Wood "King" (skipper), John Wood "King", Alexander Mair "Shavie", James Mair "Shanker", William Mair "Shanker", Joseph Mair "Bobbin", Alexander Mair "Bobbin" and George Findlay.1 He was buried on 21 January 1905 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.11
