     William was usually known as "Billy."1 William George Slater Mair was born circa 1921. He was the son of John Mair and Margaret Donaldson. He married Isabella M Bain.1 Edgar, his brother, said that Billy died from an ulcer having just returned from Iceland on a minesweeper.1 William George Slater Mair died on 5 December 1945 at St Margaret's Naval Hospital, Lowestoft, Suffolk, England.2 He was buried after 5 December 1945 at Buckie New Cemetery, Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland.3,2
