Alexander Mair was born on 12 April 1807 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was baptized on 13 April 1807 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of William Mair and Ann Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". Alexander Mair was a fisherman. He married Janet Ewing at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 9 March 1837.3,2 Alexander Mair died on 17 December 1870 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 63.2
