     Catherine Wood was born in 1892 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of David Wood and Jane Mair. Her family was known by the tee-name of "King". She married George Gardiner at Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 29 March 1916.1 As of 29 March 1916, her married name was Catherine Gardiner.
