     James Mair was born on 22 November 1872 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of William Mair and Ann Falconer. His family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". James died on 21 July 1873 at Caroline Place, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2
