     Helen Mair was born on 5 September 1843 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of James Mair and Catherine Wood. Helen Mair was baptized on 14 September 1843 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 Her family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". She married Alexander Gardiner, son of Alexander Gardiner and Margaret Pirie, on 26 February 1865 at Seafield Church, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. As of 26 February 1865, her married name was Helen Gardiner. She was the informant for, and present at, Catherine Wood's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 13 October 1889.2,1 Helen Mair died on 30 April 1923 at 130 Seatown, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 79.1
