     John Mair was born on 3 February 1841 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Alexander Mair and Janet Ewing. John Mair was baptized on 16 February 1841 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 His family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". He married Jane Wood at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 17 January 1877.3,2 He was the informant for William Wood's death at 193 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 13 January 1894.4 John died on 3 March 1925 at Blantyre Place, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 84.5 He was buried after 3 March 1925 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.5
