Joseph Mair was born on 28 April 1862 at Parish of Seafield, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Alexander Mair and Elizabeth Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Saucy". Joseph Mair was a fisherman. He was the informant for, and present at, William Mair's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 19 September 1887.3,4 He married Ann Slater at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 18 December 1891.2 He was the informant for Elizabeth Mair's birth at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 10 April 1893.5,2 The Buckie and District Directory for 1925 shows that Joseph Mair lived at 15 Pulteney Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.6 Joseph died on 21 November 1941 at 15 Pulteney Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 79.7,8,4 He was buried after 21 November 1941 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.8
