James Mair was baptized on 22 November 1851 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin Shy".2 He was a fisherman. He married Jane Sclater at Seafield Church, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 10 October 1873.3 James Mair died on 6 October 1902 at Banff, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 50.2
