His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin Shy".3 William Mair was a fisherman. He married Isabella Wood at Portknockie Free Church, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 9 December 1881.5,4 He was the informant for Isabella Mair's birth at 8 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 13 September 1891.6,7,4 He was the informant for, and present at, Margaret Mair's death at 8 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 8 April 1892.8 He was the informant for, and present at, Margaret Ann Mair's death at 299 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 20 November 1901.9 William Mair died on 28 May 1902 at age 42.7
