     John Wood was born on 6 April 1809.1 He was the son of William Wood and Catherine Mair. John Wood was baptized on 9 April 1809 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 His family was known by the tee-name of "Doo". He was the informant for, and present at, Catherine Mair's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 3 May 1863.2
