George Wood was born on 25 September 1857 at 17 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of George Wood and Anne Mair. His family was known by the tee-name of "Doo". George Wood was a fish merchant. He married Mary Goodbrand at Seatown, Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland, on 12 July 1879.3 George died on 9 May 1934 at 18 Schoolhendry Street, Portsoy, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 76.2
