     John Pirie was born on 21 April 1836.1 He was the son of George Pirie and Margaret Flett. John Pirie was baptized on 29 April 1836 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 His family was known by the tee-name of "Skipper". He was a fisherman. He married Helen Wood at Parish of Seafield, Banffshire, Scotland, on 10 October 1862.2 He was the informant for, and present at, John Pirie's birth at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 29 June 1867.3,4 He was the informant for William Pirie's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 19 October 1875.5 John died on 5 January 1892 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 55.6,7
