     Helen Mair "Shanker" was born on 18 March 1838 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of Alexander Mair and Margaret Wilson. Helen Mair was baptized on 22 March 1838 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 Her family was known by the tee-name of "Shanker". She married Alexander Pirie at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 15 October 1863.2,3 As of 15 October 1863, her married name was Helen Pirie. Helen died on 2 February 1879 at Chalmers Hospital, Banff, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 40.1
