Alexander Pirie was born on 4 April 1869 at Parish of Seafield, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of John Pirie and Helen Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Skipper". Alexander Pirie was a fisherman. He married Catherine Ann Mair at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 15 September 1891.2 Alexander died on 14 February 1893 at sea, about 15 miles SE of Wick, Caithness, Scotland, at age 23. He accidentally drowned at sea.2
