     James Mair was born on 9 June 1825 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of John Mair and Janet Wood. James Mair was baptized on 18 June 1825 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 His family was known by the tee-name of "Cock". He was a fisherman. He married Ann Falconer at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 5 October 1848.3,4,2,5 He was the informant for William Alexander Mair's birth at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 20 April 1864.6,7 He was the informant for, and present at, Margaret Jane Mair's birth at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 28 January 1869.8,9 James died on 3 December 1894 at 38 Seatown, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 69.10,2 He was buried after 3 December 1894 at Cullen Cemetery, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.10
