     James Mair was born circa 1852 at Rathven, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Mair and Ann Falconer. He was the informant for, and present at, George Mair's death at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 6 July 1867.2 He married Margaret Slater at 38 Seatown, Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 14 January 1876.1
