She was listed as head of household's daughter in the 1871 census at Balnamoon, New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: John Cheyne, head; Hellen Cheyne, wife; George Cheyne, son; William Cheyne, son; Ellen Cheyne, daughter; Sarah Cheyne, daughter; Jane Cheyne, daughter; Mary Ann Cheyne, daughter.3
She married John Gibb Third at Balnamoon, New Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 20 July 1889.4 As of 20 July 1889, her married name was Sarah Third. Sarah died on 13 November 1931 at Beech Cottage, Longside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at age 67.2 Her body was interred after 13 November 1931 at Longside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at Longside Kirkyard.2
