     John Mair was born illegitimate on 1 April 1862 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of William Mair and Ann Mair. His family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". John Mair was known as 'Jonny Shavie.3' John Mair was a fisherman. He was the informant for, and present at, William Mair's death at 145 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 19 December 1883.4,2 He married Margaret Mair at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 24 September 1886.5,2 John died on 4 January 1947 at Slack Villa, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 84.2
