He married Helen Ann Slater at Seafield Church, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 19 December 1902.2 Robert died on 7 November 1912 at Aberdeen Poorhouse, Oldmill, Newhills, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at age 39.2
