     John Mair was born on 27 August 1883 at Castle Street, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Alexander Mair and Ann Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Shavie". John Mair was a baker (journeyman). He married Helen Mair at 7 Seafield Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 3 March 1926.1 John died on 24 November 1959 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at age 76.2,1 He was buried after 24 November 1959 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.2
