He married Helen Mair at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 10 March 1905.2 He was the informant for, and present at, David James Slater's death at 4 Seafield Terrace, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 16 May 1930.3,2,4 Joseph died on 3 January 1959 at Seafield Hospital, Buckie, Moray, Scotland, at age 76.5,2 He was buried after 3 January 1959 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.5
