What do I do?      Well, professionally I am a business change Programme Manager.

For a number of years, I have been accountable for the delivery of very large national programmes under public sector National Curriculum Testing contracts, comprising service delivery, change and innovation. I am currently Senior Programme Manager for the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency in London.

In the days before children, my principal hobby used to be bell ringing: attending practises, teaching new ringers, ringing peals and quarter-peals, attending ringing society meetings, going on ringing tours and, of course, participating in the associated social activities (usually involving real ale). Post-children, I have attended some ringing society reunion dinners and dabbled just a little bit with ringing again.

These days my spare time is mainly taken up by football activities, family history research and a monthly pub quiz.

Football activities
For starters, both Rachel and I are taxi drivers for William for his training and matches for Portsmouth Football Club Academy; there actually is more waiting around than driving. With his Portsmouth commitments, he no longer plays for Liphook United Football Club but I am now more involved with the Liphook United than ever.

I am Youth Secretary for Liphook United Football Club which primarily involves being the interface between North East Hampshire Youth League, the Club and its twelve youth teams.
I'm also the Club's webmaster. A complete re-design of the Liphook United website to upgrade it from html/frames to php/MySQL has given me plenty to do and I'm continuing to roll-out a number of new online facilities for Club members.

Family history research
Research on our family history was started by my brother, Cameron, in 1998; well before the BBC series 'Who do you think you are?'   started the national craze for researching your roots.

I joined in as someone with an interest and enough leave to take from work to be able to spend some time in archives in Scotland and Norfolk searching out documentary evidence. Have a look at the family history part of our site to see the fruits of thousands of hours of research.

Through our family history site we've been contacted by many others researching their family history, including a number of cousins who have then also made contributions to the site.

Pub quizzes
For many years I have been a member of a small team that takes part in a monthly pub quiz at The Wheatsheaf, Grayswood in Surrey. Although many of the other teams are much larger, and we only do it for fun, our winnings usually keep us in beer and food.
