Corrie Bheag of AchnacarryGrey Mare Born May 1991 Sire: Sergeant Major of Whitefield Dam: Mollaig of Achnacarry
Corrie was born on 18th May and was the first of three full sisters the other two being Caitlin and Cuillin who were sold on. There were also two half brothers, Cameron by Major of Whitefield and Corran by Glentrowan Heamish. Corran lives close by in Strathmiglo and belongs to the Johnston family and is ridden regularly by a 14 year old. Corrie was shown as a foal and won various prizes. She was Champion foal at Kinross Show winning the coveted silver Salver presented by Lorna Hepburn in memory of her Aunt Ella Kirk who was also my dear friend. We try our best each year to win this Salver and we often have to compete with Heather Turnbull because between us we have won it three times each so far! As a yearling Corrie won her class at the Royal Highland Show winning the Alex and Dorothy Dewar Perpetual Challenge Silver Cup for best Yearling Filly bred by Exhibitor. I was very proud as that completed wins for yearling, two year old and three year old all for Trophies presented to homebred stock at the Royal Highland. Corrie has not been shown much because she has never been too keen to walk into a trailer! However she is in foal to our Stallion Tarka of Orangefield so hopefully we will manage to show her this year with a foal at foot.
