Elphin of Achnacarry

Elphin (Fin) was born middle of April 2006 and is a full brother to Emperor. However he is perhaps slightly different in that he has a more feminine head. He has taken his looks after his dam so has a beautiful little dished face. He is a compact foal with good bone, very showy. Likely to make 14hh -14.1hh

Should do well under saddle eventually as well as shown in hand. A photo will follow soon of him standing up!! There are a few earlier ones on our News Page.

Here are a few photos of Fin standing up!!

Price: £1000.

Tearlach of Achnacarry

Tearlach & Elphin

Tearlach (Teddy) is a yearling colt with strong bone and good conformation. He is very traditional and both his sire and dam are major prizewinners at the Royal Highland Show and other shows. He is a beautiful mouse dun colour, but he is not a true mouse dun as he has grey through his hairs but it will be a long time before he turns grey. He is Vaccinated for tetanus and is micro-chipped . He would perhaps suit someone who is looking for a colt for breeding purposes or equally he will make a good ridden prospect. For more information please contact us by e-mail or telephone: 01337-828783.

TEDDY WILL BE TRAVELLING DOWN TO TYNE ON WEAR SOON TO HIS NEW HOME.

Emperor is a two year old gelding. He was gelded in October and should make an excellent ridden pony. HIs temperament is second to none and he is good to box and also good with the farrier. He is micro-chipped and vaccinated against tetanus. His sire is Tarka of Orangefield and his dam is Corrie Bheag of Achnacarry. He is a beautiful cream dun with free moving straight action and exceptionally good bone. He is likely to make 14.hh - 14.1hh.

HIs dam is the mother of the stallion, Echo of Achnacarry who is doing very well both in hand and under saddle.

  • EMBER OF ACHNACARRY

  • - Grey Yearling Colt by Tarka of Orangefield out of Corrie Bheag of Achnacarry

Show Results 2003:- He was only shown twice, he was 3rd foal at the Winter Fair Perth and was 2nd foal at Tayside Foal Show

Well Handled: Quiet: Easy to handle: Loads and Travels well

Likely to make 14.1hh: Moves Well: Good Bone: Will make a good ridden pony and/or Stallion

His full brother Ericht, a two year old gelding, has been doing very well in the show ring since being sold. He has qualified for the Glyn Greenwood Home Produced Youngstock championship and was 1st in the M & M 2 y.o. class at the Cheshire County Show

    Echo of Achnacarry (Grey)

Foaled 1999 Sire: MacGregor of Achnacarry (Dam: Julie of Lundie) Dam: Corrie Bheag of Achnacarry (Dam: Mollaig of Achnacarry) Echo was lightly shown with his dam before selling him to Bruce Haliburton as a yearling colt. His Major win was Foal Champion at Kinross Show. As a yearling Bruce showed him lightly and he was 1st Prize yearling colt at the Breed Show, Braco and Perth. As far as I know, Bruce plans to keep him entire and licence him this year. (2002)

    Eros of Achnacarry (Yellow Dun)

Foaled 1997 Sire: MacGregor of Achnacarry (Dam: Julie of Lundie) Dam: Corrie Bheag of Achnacarry (Dam: Mollaig of Achnacarry) Eros was sold as a yearling colt to Bill Allan (WKA Allan) in Freuchie, Fife who has only shown him lightly as he is used extensively at Stud. However his major prize was as a 3 year old at the Royal Highland Show 2000 where he was first in his class and won the Pitscandly Perpetual Challenge Trophy for Best Two or Three year old Stallion. He is now rising 5 years old and has been sold to Linda Reid and goes down to Wales in April to join her Swallowfields Stud.

    MacGregor of Achnacarry (Grey)

Foaled 1986 Sire: Marksman of Gleneagles Dam: Julie of Lundie MacGregor won numerous prizes before I sold him to Jimmie Hendrie when he was rising two years old. Some of his wins when Jimmie owned him were as follows: Breed Show 1988. (2yrs old) Reserve Champion winning The Ballinton Trophy - Opposite Sex to the Champion. Royal Highland Show 1989. (3yrs old) 1st in his class and Reserve Male Champion. He was then sold to Steve & Wendy Bridges and some of his wins with them were as follows: Supreme M&M Champion NPS Malvern 1990. Reserve Supreme. Surrey County Reserve Supreme Royal Bath & West Reserve Supreme NPA Cornwall Champion M&M Devon County Supreme M&M West Midlands Stallion Show Supreme Malvern H P Show He was then sold to the Thorley family in Monreith Port William in Wigtown-Shire where he is still used at Stud producing quality ponies.

    Zeus of Achnacarry (Cream Dun)

Foaled 1997 Sire: MacGregor of Achnacarry (Dam: Julie of Lundie) Dam: Xanthe of Whitefield (Dam: Monkey of Whitefield) Zeus was only shown once by myself and that was at The Royal Highland Show as a yearling colt when he was 2nd Prize Colt. He was spotted by American, John Jeffords, Iron Mountain Ranch, Wyoming who approached me and asked if he could buy him. He wanted him for crossing with his buckskin mares and as he was cream dun he fitted the bill! Another reason was, because The Highland Pony Society has a strict rule that Highland Ponies must not have white feet, he felt that Zeus would pass on his good hard feet to his mares. Unfortunately he died of severe colic when he was in Wyoming in 2000. He was only three years old.

    Corran of Achnacarry (Grey)

Foaled 1996 Sire: Glentrown Heamish Dam: Mollaig of Achnacarry Corran was never shown as his dam was never a willing loader. He was sold to friends who live locally when he was rising 2 years old and is kept as a family pony, ridden regularly by a 13 year old boy and a 15 years old girl and apparently gives them lots of pleasure. I was invited over to ride him and found him to be a very forward going lively ride

    Mischief of Achnacarry (Grey)

Foaled 1996 Sire: Viscount of Whitefield Dam: Julie of Lundie

The photo above is of Mischief and Midge, his full sister.

Mischief won prizes too numerous to mention before I sold him as a two year old in 1998 to Jenny Walker and David Ensor. With them he continues to be in the Prize Lists (see below for details).
