We are Unique
in the fact that you won’t find your stereotype pub here, but if it’s a journey
into the past you are looking for then look no further, you will find a place
steeped in history with fine
real ales
drawn straight from the cask which are always well kept. On the surface, a place
unspoiled untouched by today’s modern often self centred hectic lifestyle, where
there is a feeling of time having stood still for many years.
No music or the sound of fruit
machines can be heard. Often described as “The Talking
Pub”, you can expect to find the chatter and laughter of the
middle class bar room crowd on a busy Sunday Lunchtime. Bemoans
expressed in “The Grumpy Old Men’s Corner” in the early evening as
they relax after a hard days work. Much friendly banter has taken
place as they try to “put the world to rights”.
What you will not find is your
typical business lunch or restaurant facilities as we don't have the
space for such luxuries, sticky tables do not adorn the premises,
but instead you may enjoy what has been called by some
customers
“An Up Market Snack” sourced only from the finest local outlets
After a long
country walk
or whilst delving into your families past in the village, why not
join us by the roaring log fire (in winter) or relax and
marvel over the unusual artwork made from scrap in the tiny gardens
adjoining the pub. Enjoy one of our best sellers “Elephant
(Jumbo Sausage) in French bread” or one of our home made
burgers or soup.
Opening hours for food are limited to lunchtimes
only 12.00 – 1.45 weekends so hurry or you may miss out.
