Real Ales.
At The Plough, you are sure of
finding quality Real Ale drawn straight from the cask. Always well
kept by Dave, the landlord, it is popular with both locals and
visitors alike. Sourced from the Brewery in Swindon, you will find on stillage three permanent cask conditioned beers
Archers Best 4%, Village 3.6% and Golden 4.7%. Top quality
cask conditioned ales kept in excellent condition by a landlord of
25 years standing who was trained at Courage Brewery.
Christmas comes but once a year and
often customers will come out especially, as there is always an
extra special cask conditioned ale, “Marley’s Ghost”.
This is a very popular seasonal pint with a full bodied taste, but
be careful how many you have as it is very strong with an alcoholic
content of about 7.8%.
Feel free to enquire about any of
the beers on offer as Dave can advise whether it’s of weak or strong
alcoholic content and he is always open to comments about the
standard to which it is kept good or bad.
He is very contentious about
the standard of the beer and always likes to be told if it is
not “up to par” so that the brewery can be informed. (Luckily the
latter doesn’t happen very often as problems are few and far
between).
So if it is cask conditioned real
ale kept in excellent condition that you are looking for, why not
pay us a visit and maybe take away 4 pints of our lovely brew in one
of the mock stone jars that can be purchased from the bar or even
bring your own jug to be filled.
