Guillemot parasite

This is a highly flattened parasitic insect whose flat shovel head takes up one third of its body length. Obviously adapted to slip in under the feathers of the unfortunate host, close to the skin to feed on the hosts blood. Balsam Post cover, issue No. 43, April 1999.
