Sand from Shark Bay, full of foraminifera, several dozen of different species are visible.

Photographing a single foram using a DSLR and a 38mm bellows macro lens. I stood a tube lined with black suede Con-Tact on a dark blue filter over a small light panel. I then lit the foram with a LED torch, the white foram against the deep blue background works well.
