Farewell After Ten Years
Derbyshire band Pressure are going out in style, after ten glorious years and an impressive list of achievements. 'The ten year point seems a good landmark to wind up on and look at new projects. We have had three great years with the current line up and part as great friends' said Ben Liverman: 'This website is a celebration of what we have done, and an invitation for people who have enjoyed our music to come and share the Pressure experience'.
The band has always been based around the songs of local singer, songwriter and guitarist Ben Liverman. Soon after they started they were crowned most original band in the Derbyshire Young Band Of The Year contest. Their talent took them through to the finals of most competitions they entered, with a notable win at a nation wide competition played in London.
Pressure started as a standard four piece band in 1998, but when lead guitarist Chris Jones left to study in London in 2002, the band was joined by the talented Saxophonist Rebecca Liverman. It was then Pressure got a unique edge with a distinctive new sound, they called Sax Rock. Pressure's lively stage act and defined image further enhanced their popularity.
Always striving to reach new levels, Pressures list of achievements in the last 10 years is impressive. They have recorded an album, 'In the Red', with the Levellers top producer, Al Scott at the Metway Studio as well as two E.Ps, Clubland and Start Again.
October last year saw the production of a music video, launched at The Metro cinema in Derby, with a fantastic response from Pressure's faithful fans. The title video 'Abducted Today' has been aired on satellite television, by Propeller's Choon programme (Sky channel 195). Over this period their presence on the internet has won them additional fans world wide.
As a live band Pressure have been pleasing audiences far and wide, most notably at the Islington. Birmingham Carling Academies, Beautiful Days Festival, The Cavern Club in Liverpool and Derby Assembly Rooms, as well as some great local gigs and festivals around Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke.
