Preston is
in the county of Lancashire in the north-west of England
Latitude 53 degrees 45 minutes north and longitude 2 degrees 42 minutes west. The town
centre is approximately 100 feet (30.5 metres) above sea level.
The town is ideally located on the north bank of the river Ribble and surrounded by breathtaking countryside such as the Ribble valley and rolling Lancashire hills to the east with the Beacon Fell Country park and Forest of Bowland.
The flat countryside of the Fylde to the west and north-west out to the coast and still further to the north is the magnificent Lake District in the county of Cumbria.
To the south and south-west of the river Ribble is the moss lands with many market gardens growing fresh food.
