Owner- Adnams

Beers- Adnams Bitter, Broadside, Exploder, Lighthouse. Bitburger on draught

Telephone-020-7407-5818

Adnams pub in central London. Modern pub for a traditional brewery, but not unpleasant and has a pubby atmosphere. Décor includes lots of wood, white walls, blue chairs and style magazines! Pub is half eating and half drinking, there is also room downstairs for drinking. The pub is close to Tower Bridge and has a good view of City Hall ( wonder if Boris Johnson drinks here! ). Good pint served at the time of visit, if expensive Adnams Bitter was £3.40 a pint.

John 9/10 visit August 2011

Take the train to London Bridge and walk to Tower Bridge. A very modern interior with wooden floors and comfy seats. This pub marks the first pub crawl ! done by Jackie. Expensive beer and food, but a place you must visit.

Owner- Free House

Beers- Fullers London Pride, Marstons Ashes Ale, Brakspear Bitter

Telephone-020-7620-2226

Take the Waterloo Road exit at Waterloo station, turn right, and the pub is about 50 yards on your right-hand side. Pub which has opened recently, as you might have guessed it's an ex fire station, which gives it a lot of character and atmosphere. Made Dining Pub of the Year by the Good Pub Guide, which might explain why so much room is taken up by food ( and the prices! ). Gets crowded after 17-00 hours with Waterloo commuters having a drink or two before their journey home. Best new pub in London for a while. Expensive.

John 8/10 visit July 2009

This is a great new pub. Super venue, an old fire station! Loads of wooden furniture, largish bar and the food looked good. Clearly popular with the commuters.

Walk into the courtyard of this pub and you will see one of the most impressive pub-fronts in London. A genuine galleried coaching inn ( the only one left in London ) which was rebuilt in 1676. Inside is just as nice as well, with lots of rooms and alcoves in which you can drink in a olde world atmosphere. The pub is expensive and a little touristy, but this is a great pub none the less. Visit a bit of history!.

John 9/10 visit August 2011

As you enter the cobbled courtyard, look to the right and you could be back in 1700. Famous and historic galleried coaching inn, one of the last left. Inside it has low ceilings, wood, cigarette stains and good beers. Various drinking areas and an original beer engine dispenser in one bar. Opposite is a modern office block - disgraceful!

If you like to drink in unusual places-this one is for you. Only open from 0900 to 1500 hours on a Saturday at a railway arch (at the back of the brewery) with tables and chairs down the back of an alley plus a portaloo! Not sure what happens if it rains! Atmosphere is very hippie/ bohemian, with a chance to meet the brewer Elvin. Cheese and sausages are also sold, as well as bottles of Kernel beers to go.  The beers are bottle conditioned and are mainly strong dark beers or beers with US hops. Part of Maltby Street market which is gaining in popularity with stallholders and customers due to the prices at Borough Market.

Nice cosy feel to the place; there is a courtyard at the rear of the pub and some overhead ceiling fans perfect for a hot day. Gets crowded early, evenings with commuters but quiet at other times. .

A Fullers Ale and Pie chain pub, opened only recently, used to be a old office building. The pub has been done out in a traditional style with lots of wood panelling, and what I call railway-carriage seating. The pub does not get so crowded at the weekends. The pub does accommodation and the prices are not unreasonable for central London. A good air-conditioning system in the summer.

Must be one of the smallest pubs in London, but with one of the biggest and best bottled beer list in London. The pub is owner by Utobeer who own a stall at nearby Borough Markets selling mainly Belgian beers. Here the beer menu is from all round the world. The beer menu is always changing so there is a chance the beer you drank last time, might not be there!! Outside drinking patio gives the pub some much needed space in good weather. Visited during the Cornish beer weekend, regular beer was £3.40 a pint.  Good atmosphere from Borough Market. The Brew Wharf and Market Porter makes Borough Market a good drinking area.

Recently done out in a traditional style with lots of Harveys memorabilia. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere and beer. A little piece of Sussex in London. Limited opening at the weekends on a Sunday ( 1200 to 18 hours), but it's worth a trip during the week at any time. Harveys Mild was £3.10 a pint and Sussex Best Bitter was £3.40 a pint.

Modern home brew bar very much like an American home brew bar, where you are able to see the brewing vessels. A fair bit of space is for diners, but there's still lots of room for drinkers. They like you to use the waiter service. Try to get the comfy seats and the sampler tray. Pub attracts a fair number of families. Décor grows on you after a few visits. No real ale, but the beers are good.

Classic riverside pub, which is not near the Cutty Sark! Built in 1695, as you walk through the wonderful stained glass door you feel like nothing much has changed over the years. There are two upstairs floor areas where if you get the right seat you have a nice view out on to the Thames. Nice fireplace and half-barrel seats. If you visit the Trafalgar first from Greenwich Station, keep walking along the river and you will find this pub. Not such a tourist trap as the Trafalgar. Not so busy at the weekends.

This upmarket pub makes the most of its riverside location, so much so that half the pub is a dining area. The part which is for drinking in is very nice and traditional with lots of nice wood panelling and paintings on the wall, but it can get very crowded during the tourist season. It is not so busy weekdays. If you can get a seat looking out to the river this place is prefect. Beer is expensive and the choice is okay, they are well-kept.

Riverside pub with a old world theme, with black beams , whitewashed walls, pictures of old sailing ships and black wooden seats. Nice jetty area to go drinking in the summer; pub has been well thought-out. Food is expensive. Crocodile tournedos are on the menu!

Tiny timber framed pub set amongst flats by the Thames. This was the original mooring place of the Mayflower. The pub has its own jetty, which patrons can walk on. Front and rear bar areas. Loads of black wood, food quotations from literature, old guns hanging from the ceiling and most importantly real ale! The interior is based on a sailing theme. Nice 16th century pub which is now surrounded by the shops in the High Street, but still has a lot of charm. Low beamed pub with lots of different drinking areas. Clientele mainly mature drinkers who were also enjoying the reasonably priced food menu ( no meal over £5 ). Drinking area at the front of the pub. Good pint on last visit.

A nice relaxing sort of pub. Half the pub is floorboards, half is carpet, red wallpaper all around with photos and prints on the walls with a drinking theme. Flower boxes on the window ledge and a beer garden around the back. Next door is the real ale off-licence Bitter End.

A Young's pub right by the street market. Once you have struggled your way between the stalls you will find a nice old pub with wooden panelling and floors. Good pint of ale. On a sunny day there is a nice beer garden at the back.

Young's pub on Surrey Street market. Atmosphere of the market comes into the pub, while busy bar service is good. Etched-glass windows and wood-panelled walls showing various pictures and photos, including one of Prince Charles pulling a pint in the pub. Good pub, good atmosphere. Rolls on the bar are £1. Food Menu with no meal over £3.99.

Probably the best pub in Croydon. Locals' pub with plenty of atmosphere. Views from the windows include a multi-storey car park and a flyover! But good Fullers beers, etched glass windows and wood floor make it a bit special.

Stuart 8/10 visit Oct 2002

Small pub, near a flyover and multi-storey car park. Despite the location, it's a good traditional pub which serves an excellent pint of beer. Now a one bar pub, but still has a public bar and lounge area, within this.
