I had
the idea for this guy for a while. His design was already in my mind when
I drew him. He has elements of other characters in him. For example, he
has a mane like my characters Snarl and spots like Deazel. The arrows are
taken from an old character of mine, Arrow the Kitsune. I never really used
that character much but the arrow idea was neat so I used it here. His back
feet were supposed to be like those of monkeys but I'm not very good at
drawing them so I had to change it. He has opposable thumbs on his back
feet as well as front and is a very good climber, preferring to be up high
somewhere. I shaded him in odd colours to make his fur look sort of pearlescent.
Coridor can shape change, he can become a liquid entity and his body can
vary in length when he wishes. Thats about it really. He's like a sinister
dark idea who plays pranks on people and appears round the corner when you
least expect it.
And that was the main idea behind Coridor, who I first drew June 10th 2005.
I had the idea a while before then though. I wanted a character who was
far out and funky, reflecting a little of my personality as most of my characters
do. But also something that was a little mysterious and strange. And so
Coridor was born! He doesn't really fit in with any of my worlds as yet
but I'm sure that will change in time.

My
first picture of Coridor. You can see here the weird way I shaded him and also
his rather interesting feet. He gets his colour from my favourite colour, purple.
Quite a few of my characters are purple, you may have noticed.
Created with Crayola coloured pencils, my current main medium, with a computer
added background.
Coridor
on a pole, showing how his hands and feet work. He's very good at climbing.
Another picture I had in my mind for a while before drawing out on paper.
Created in Crayolas and computer again.
Sometimes
I got bored at work and sketched things in my notebook. Here are a bunch of
Coridor sketches. Since I'd only drawn him once when I did these, there are
a few mistakes. His mane is supposed to start on his neck at the base of his
skull, not his forehead and I spelt his name wrong as well.
The first sketch is a shaded one, the shaded ones look better. I also shaded
the fourth one too. The others are just doodles, also experimenting with poses
and such. Notice his short legs in the third one! He's in some kind of weird
pose in the second one and walking along in the fourth.
I like the first one best! Also I think its the first picture I drew of him
with his mouth open (useless fact number 12!)
All drawn in blue biro, although black is my preferred doodling tool.
A
reference sheet for Coridor showing his body structure, little facts about certain
features of his body and showing his varying body length and natural liquid
form.
Please excuse my hand writing, I'm an artist, not a legible writer and I have
a problem with writing too fast and the letters coming out messy.
Drawn in Crayola coloured pencils.
This
would probably make a very good t-shirt design. It was a weird pic to draw certainly.
I made the writing spectrum because I couldn't decide on what colour to make
it so I made it all of them. It's just Coridor being his usual weird self!

My
first decent computer created picture in a long time! This was an experiment
with gradient shading in Photoshop. I usually use Coridor as my test subject
for shading techniques and trying out new ways of drawing. Which is a bit silly,
given the fact that he is reverse shaded but oh well. I am very happy with this!

Coridor's
cousin, Sterreo. He was inspired by the 80s and the bright colours and crazy
hairdos of cartoon characters back in that era. I kept with the arrow theme
since they are the same species and tried to do the clashy wacked out colours
similar to Coridor, keeping Sterreo's design about as complex as Coridor's.
