Numb
The next PSB single will be "Numb", released on October 16th with a new 7" mix by Trevor Horn. Bonus tracks will be "Party song" and "Bright young things", the former produced by Pet Shop Boys and the latter by Pet Shop Boys and Chris Zippel. A new dance mix of "Psychological" by Ewan Pearson will also be included on a limited edition 12" vinyl release.
The video for "Numb" (edited to the original album version) has recently been completed and is described by the directors as "an icy emotional landscape of borrowed dreams, sewn together with the power and style of Russian constructivist cinema".
The photograph on the cover of "Numb" was taken by Sam Taylor-Wood in November 2003 and features Chris and Neil seated in a pub (The Jerusalem Tavern in Clerkenwell, London) wearing "Doctor of the Plague" masks bought in Venice. This image was originally going to be used as the single cover when first considered for the "PopArt" release. The track listings are as follows:

On October 23rd, Parlophone will be releasing a double CD of the entire Mermaid Theatre concert. Details of the concert are below:
Pet Shop Boys played an exclusive concert at the Mermaid Theatre in London in
front of an audience of 600 invited guests on May 8th 2006.
On stage with Neil and Chris were the 60 (approx) members of the BBC Concert
Orchestra conducted by Nick Ingman plus Trevor Horn (bass), Phil Palmer
(acoustic guitars), Steve Lipson (guitars), Anne Dudley (piano and keyboards),
Paul Robinson (drums). Backing vocalists were Lol Creme, Andy Caine, Lucinda
Barry and Sylvia Mason-James.
Special guests Rufus Wainwright, Frances Barber (star of the original production
of "Closer to Heaven") and Robbie Williams each sang a song.
Trevor Horn was the musical
director.

Catalogue
An illustrated book compiling Pet Shop Boys' entire visual and design output from 1984 to 2004 will be published by the British art book publishers, Thames & Hudson, this autumn.
The book, entitled "Pet Shop Boys Catalogue", is being edited by Philip Hoare and Chris Heath and is expected to go on sale in October. It also includes contributions from long-term PSB designer, Mark Farrow, as well as comments and an interview from Neil and Chris.

Bent
Chris Lowe has written the music for a song in the famous play,
"Bent", by Martin Sherman, which is to be revived in London at the Trafalgar Studios from September
22nd.
The director of the play, Daniel Kramer, asked Pet Shop Boys to write the music for the song "Streets of Berlin" which already had lyrics by Martin Sherman.
As Neil was in
Berlin working on Rufus Wainwright's new album, Chris wrote the music by himself.

Rufus Wainwright
Neil has been in Berlin and has been working as consultant producer on Rufus Wainwright's new album. The album is due for release early 2007.

Robbie Williams Collaboration
On September 25th Robbie Williams' new album "Rudebox 1974" will be released and contains 2 collaborations with PSB. A new track called "She's Madonna" written by Williams & PSB and also a cover version of the My Robot Friend song "We're the Pet Shop Boys" also recorded by PSB in 2003.

Documentary
The
Channel 4 documentary about Pet Shop Boys "A Life In Pop" which was broadcast on Wednesday May
24th will be released on October 23rd on DVD in the UK.
This
will be a greatly expanded version of the aired programme and has a running time
of 2hrs 20mins.

The next single to be taken from the latest album "Fundamental" is Minimal and will be released in the UK on 24th July 2006. The video was made in Paris, directed by Don Cameron. Unlike "I'm with Stupid", Neil and Chris feature heavily! The following formats will be available:

"In private" is the seven-inch mix of the track which appears in a longer mix on "Fundamentalism".
"Blue on blue" was written and recorded by Pet Shop Boys in 2003 (at the same time as "Luna Park" and "Casanova in Hell").
The mix of "No time for tears" was made by Tim Weidner last year when it was considered as a single release to promote the "Battleship Potemkin" album.

Pet Shop Boys have
just completed their new album "Fundamental" and will be released
worldwide on 22nd May 2006. "Fundamental", will be released on
CD and vinyl. There will also be a limited two-CD special edition with a bonus
CD (entitled "Fundamentalism") of dance tracks and mixes. The album has been produced by Trevor Horn and features 11 new Tennant/Lowe
tracks and "Numb",
a song by Diane Warren, originally recorded for the "PopArt"
compilation in 2003.
Neil and Chris started writing songs for the album in January 2005 and commenced
recording with Trevor Horn in May. Chris Lowe commented: "We've really
enjoyed making this album with Trevor and his team and are very happy indeed
with the finished result." Neil Tennant added: "We think it's a great
Pet Shop Boys album and also a great Trevor Horn record."
Trevor Horn produced "Left to my own devices" and "It's
alright" for Pet Shop Boys in 1988/89 and at the
end of last year Pet Shop Boys appeared in the
"Produced by
Trevor Horn" show at London's Wembley Arena.
The musical style is
described as "electronic and quite epic".

"Fugitive" was originally written at the beginning of last year and
was recently completed with Richard X. "In private" is Pet Shop Boys'
own version of the hit they wrote and produced for Dusty Springfield in 1989. It
features vocals by Neil Tennant and Elton John.
The album will be
preceded by the new single "I'm with Stupid" on 8th May 2006.
"I'm with Stupid", will be released on three formats: CD, DVD and
picture disc 7" vinyl. The DVD will include the video for "I'm with
Stupid", starring David Walliams and Matt Lucas (of Little Britain fame).

Madonna - Sorry

Pet Shop Boys "Maxi-Mix" of Madonna's new single "Sorry" was
released on 22nd February 2006.
The
remix is available on the Maxi-CD Single and features Neil's Vocals.

Live
8 : Moscow
Pet Shop Boys played in Moscow at the conclusion of
the Russian Live 8 concert in Red Square - 2nd July.
They were asked to perform for 45 minutes, this was their set list:

sin” for a second time!
The Moscow concert was the last of the Live 8 concerts to be announced and
Moscow police estimated that between 60 - 80,000 people attended the Pet Shop
Boys performance.

Potemkin" was released on September 5th 2005. Highest UK chart position was
97.

WowieZowie
Neil has collaborated with DJ / Producer Tom Stephan, aka Superchumbo, on a
track on his forthcoming album, "WowieZowie".
The track is called "Tranquilizer" and was co-written by Neil (lyrics
and melody) and Tom Stephan (backing track) and features vocals by Neil.
The album was released in June on "Twisted
America".

Back To Ours
Chris and Neil have each prepared a CD for release in the "Back To
Mine" series in which musicians and DJs compile a sequence of favourite
tracks for "after-hours grooving".
"Back To Mine: Pet Shop Boys" will be a double-CD release, one CD of
Chris's choices and one of Neil's. Released
in the UK on April 25th.
