The Village Church

Pytchley All Saints Church is situated on Isham Road. It dates from Norman times and has been added to through the centuries. The large size of the church reflects the greater numbers living in the village when the hall and other large mansions and farms required huge staffs. The oldest part of the church dates from the 12th century with the tower being added around 1200. The building now consists of a nave of four bays with a wide North Aisle and a smaller South Aisle. The South Porch, which was added in the 15th century is now the main entrance. Originally there were pews in the church but these were removed in 1970 due to woodworm infestation and replaced with chairs, a great loss to the character of the church.

The latest repairs to the tower were completed in 2002 and the church is now illuminated at night.
