The Old Post Office

The old post office is situated on the corner of Stringer's Hill and the High Street (opposite the pub). This area was previously known as Chapman's Corner. Between 1949 and 1987 Mrs Weston was the shopkeeper there. In the early 1960's she also became the village postmistress. When she retired, the shop and post office passed to new management and closed in the early 1990's. At this point a new post office opened in a private house in Lower End (Closed in late 1990's). The old post office is now a private house (named Hogswoggle Cottage) although the postbox is still in use.
