Spring 2004

New arrival State Performance, 3yrs old by Storm Cat (USA)
Shrek as we have lovingly named him, is a big lad with more growing to do. Has not raced due to injury but his temperament so far is impeccable and he will no doubt make a super riding horse. He will have some time to rest and enjoy the summer and resume work in the early Autumn.

Winter 2004/5

State Performance has left, having spent the summer growing into something that resembled an ID more than TB, standing at 16.3 + with legs like tree trunks.
Shrek has the most adorable personality, the original gentle giant, and in one so young we can only hope he stays that way.

We did not get to take him on any outings during his stay, but he was only too pleased to load into a trailer without hesitation on this departure. We will be watching with interest when he starts his new career as a riding club allrounder.

Surprise Encounter has also departed. Having decided that he will always be a little opinionated, finding a suitable carer was not going to be easy. Sue from Honiton fell for him and is determined to form an alliance with surprise with the much needed support of her loving husband Wallace.

Just before he left us, Steve who looked after him for 6 years came down for a couple of days to visit, Bringing gifts of stable blankets and head collars. Walking up into the paddock, Steve whistled and called. Prize recognised his voice and belted down to greet him, stopped briefly then turned tail, bucking flat out, chasing the dogs and any thing else that moved. This was not usual antics for Surprise we can only speculate that he was showing off to Steve, who did appreciate the display.
The next day Steve rode his old pal and the two rekindled the partnership as if they had never been parted.
